30" x 40"
Oil on canvas, Unframed

—

She didn’t run.
She rested.

After years of folding herself small—
to fit rooms, rules, relationships—
she stopped.

She’s in the chair now,
still and certain.
Not waiting—arriving.

The purse beside her isn’t about status.
It holds what matters:
a letter she never sent,
a receipt from the first thing she bought for herself,
a lipstick shade called Never Again.

She’s dressed in one of her favorite outfits—
not for anyone else,
but because it reminds her
she can take up space
and still feel soft.

This isn’t a portrait of rebellion.
It’s recovery.
The quiet power that comes
from finally listening to yourself—
and believing what you hear.
